You’re feeling like gravity has taken hold of you and you’re worried you’re developing a bit of a hunch.

Your hips and thighs are so tight that it’s taking you longer than you’d like to admit to get (into and) out of your chair.

Retreat pilates and stretch workshops with Alison Marcuse-Harris

Imagine this…

After your long Saturday morning stroll with the dog, you head to The Barn for some soothing and unravelling amongst friends. You unwind and gently stretch. You breathe deeper and reconnect with yourself in a way you haven’t had space for all week. Afterwards, you sip coffee, nibble cake and chat with your kindred spirits. And then you go home and enjoy a well-earned Saturday afternoon snooze.

Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? And that’s what these workshops were made for!

It is possible for you too…

“I am stronger and more supple than ever. But what makes these classes special is Alison herself. Always positive, encouraging with a bit of ‘chat’ that always makes me smile and feel part of the group. It makes my morning.”

Have some questions?

Take a look at the frequently asked questions below, and if your question isn’t answered here then get in touch and I’ll get back to you.

  • I usually teach 60-minute classes. But these workshops include an intro with me explaining the benefits for these sessions, Q&A time plus time afterwards for chit chat, tea/coffee and cake.

  • These classes are mat based and predominantly done seated and/or lying using the foam roller and 2 stimulating massage balls placed in specific areas of the body to release muscular tension. We work using pilates exercises that engage and strengthen the deeper abdominal muscles as well!

A trigger point is a sensitive area in the muscle or connective tissue (fascia) that becomes painful when compressed. Yes, trigger point therapy can be slightly uncomfortable, but only while pressure is being applied to the tender area and I always encourage you to work to your own pain threshold. You will be surprised - it feels amazing when you release that ’Sweet spot”! Self-massage will help relax the muscles, and increase blood flow which helps remove waste products.

We finish every class with a relaxation to reset and feel good within our bodies.

  • No, sorry, these are in-person only.

  • Please just wear comfortable clothing so that you can move easily and a Yoga/Pilates Mat. All other necessary equipment is provided. There is an option to purchase the equipment I use from me so you can continue your practice at home!

  • They can’t cure your specific pain, but through monthly Trigger Point Pilates and Deep Stretching sessions and at-home practice, you will definitely be equipped with all the exercises to help you feel good within your body.

For example, sitting all day can cause stiffness and having your head leaning forward for long periods of time can tighten the fascia through the spine which may cause pain and tightness. The exercises we do will help you relieve these tight areas and help you move and sleep better. You will get a worksheet to take home with the exercises and poses we have done during the session to help your at home practice. This will encourage all your Feel Good Moments.
